Working through archived material in the London School of Economics, in the Radomysler files I have happened on an unqualified statement from Elias himself that he was 'Attached to the Ecole Normale Supérieure, Paris', 1934-1935 ... Interesting to observe in the LSE papers is Elias's typed CV relating to the period 1936-1939. The document concerned, engrossed in Radomysler's personal papers and taken into LSE/Peterhouse care in 1940, emanated from Elias at 2b Drosier Road, Cambridge, the address he shared with Radomysler; this dates the CV to late-1939 or 1940. Clearly at odds with the statement in Notizen/Reflections, and standard biographical assertions of our time (which probably replicate his late-in-life statements) Elias claims no formal involvement with LSE at this time. Having in the previous sentence asserted formal registration with the Ecole Normale 1934-5, I do not think he would fail to boast gently and assert formal involvement with the LSE had this reflected more recent experience. He writes only of 1936-1939: 'Research work in London.'
